Waking up this morning I found an announcement that rumor of a new Switch model have finally come to light in the form of the Nintendo Switch Lite. Following past trends with other Nintendo consoles the Nintendo Switch has finally received its first updated model as a way to help get more people into Nintendo systems as well as drive more sales for Nintendo.

The Switch Lite does away with the dock meaning it can only be played in handheld mode. HD rumble and IR on the Joy-cons are gone as well. But this is done to make the system play more like a handheld gaming system. The system is of course going to be smaller than the original Switch featuring a 5.5 inch display while the entire system is all one piece, no more detaching the Joy-cons. It also features a longer battery life at around three to seven hours depending on the game as well as an actual D-pad. For $199.99 that's not actually a bad price. While the main feature of the Switch is gone in this model, switching from TV to handheld, it still allows access to much of the Switch's great library of games.

Personally, I'm a fan of this. The consoles look great in all of the available colors and I know so many people who want to get into the Switch and don't want to drop the $300 because they're going to use it as a dedicated handheld. So honestly, I feel like this is a good move on Nintendo's part.
