| All 31 platinums I've obtained |
So over the past few months, I decided to try my hand at platinum hunting on my PSN account and I got to say it's a lot more fun than I thought it would be. Sure some trophies are very tedious while others can be fairly quick to the point but it's actually pretty fun to have something added challenge to games I've played over and over again or some for some incentive to see every inch and every corner of a game. Going forward with a lot of games it's actually kind of fun to see those trophy count go up and with a PS3, PS4, and TV gives me access to many different games across the entire PlayStation library.
This entire thing started out as a little challenge for
Kingdom Hearts III where I would try getting as many platinums for the entire
Kingdom Hearts series before III came out. Needless to say I did not make that goal because of
Chain of Memories and
Dream Drop Distance. Those two games made me go insane with their soundtrack. But it did spark something kind of fun. Honestly it's a little addictive seeing those platinums pop up when one is earned so I dug around for a few other games that I had and I gave it a shot and a lot of the games I have ended up being platinumed.
Playing through every game though is a bit exhausting. Big title game after big title was actually really annoying as it gets a bit tiring going through long games. Doing a bit of digging I looked at the
number one account in the world with the most platinums to see if there was anything else I could learn and I found out about a bunch of games that are basically just shovel ware for a platinum. Five dollar games made for the purpose of being quick are actually really nice as a palate cleanser to help get out the giant game mindset that actually does help when it comes playing games for long periods of time. Most of these five dollar games are also cross buy with the Vita, so if you have access to a Vita that is two platinums right there
Honestly for people starting out with platinum hunting, give it a shot. It could be something fun to pick up but it's also something that you have to go into with a bit of planning. Jumping into this wouldn't really help out that much without a proper plan and you'd just end up burning yourself out really out.
