TellTale games. How I loved you guys back in 2014 when I first discovered the
Walking Dead games that you guys had produced. My first thought going through this game was it was going to be some kind of adaptation of the popular TV show of the same name but what I got was something completely different. An experience much better than the TV show. Characters I actually grew attached to and actually got sad when they died. It is still one of my favorite game series and when I heard that the final season was being made to wrap up Clementine's story, I was excited and sad that the little girl we all grew up with is now a hardened survivor in a post-apocalyptic world. It would have been the perfect ending to a great story.
Unfortunately early today, TellTale has announced massive closures throughout the company laying off 250 people and leaving a small skeleton crew to finish up the companies obligations. Things like
Minecraft's Story Mode for Netflix will be safe, but the future of their other projects are uncertain. The second season to
The Wolf Among Us is gone,
The Walking Dead's final season is uncertain. The company has stated that while these titles they've released over the past year did great,
it didn't really make their sales plans.
There are a number of things going through my mind right now as I'm writing this. The first things was; we'll never get to see Clementine's story seen through to the end. The second was; I'm kind of mad that I paid full price for the game that may not even be completed. And the third; If anyone is able to, please try crowdfunding this game if they don't have the funds to do it themselves. Many Youtubers are popular because of this game series and many people love watching them play the game. I know a lot of people would much rather watch someone else play the game in a Let's Play and while it does give the company good publicity, it doesn't really help out in sales. If you're able to, please try to pick up the game in order to support Clementine's final journey.
